I ended up having an emergency c-section, which is not what my husband and I were expecting. My little boy was taken to the NICU for the first 12 hours and all I wanted to do was see him. When the nurses asked me if I wanted to go see him of course I did! I just wanted to hold my baby. Without thinking about it, I just sat up and went. It was painful even though I was still on meds, but I was not given any instructions on how to transfer to the wheelchair. This was not the plan my husband and I were expecting. Once my son was cleared from the NICU, all the focus was on him. I did not receive the basic information on c-section recovery that I expected as a first time mom. It would have been helpful to get some more guidance in the hospital for my care rather than just an abdominal binder in my take home bag.
